Rapid PSA Test is an immunochromatography based one step in vitro test. It is designed for the rapid semi-quantitative determination of human prostate specific antigen (PSA) in serum or plasma specimens.

Alpha fetoprotein (AFP) is a normal component of the fetal blood, produced by the embryo’s liver cell. In adults, its concentration in the blood is very low. AFP is an important index for clinical diagnosis of primary hepatocellular cancer (PHC) since more than 70% PHC patients have elevated AFP blood concentrations in early stage. AFP levels also increase in other malignant tumors, such as testicular cancer. The test for serum AFP can be a screening test in high incidence areas and clinically diagnostic test for the liver cancer in the early stage. It can be used to evaluate the treating effects of liver cancer and judge the prognosis

The BioNexia® BTA cassette test is a visual immunchromatographic rapid test for the qualitative detection of bladder tumour antigens (BTA) in human urine specimens.

The determination of BTA in the urine is used to assess the risk for cancer of the bladder. The test may be used as screening test for the early detection of urocyst carcinoma as well as for monitoring patients who have already been diagnosed with and treated for bladder tumours. In these instances, the test supports routine examinations of patients for the occurrence of relapses.

Incidence
Carcinomas of the urinary bladder represent approx. 2-3% of all malign tumours in humans. After prostatic carcinoma, bladder carcinoma is second in incidence of all tumour diseases of the genitourinary system. The age-standardised attack rate (incidence) reaches approx. 19 per 100,000 inhabitants and year (Europe), although distinct country-specifi c differences are observed in some parts. In younger patients, this rate is considerably lower than in elderly ones, reaching its peak in the 7th and 8th decade of life. Incidence in men is approx. three times as high as in women.

Etiology
Among the factors increasing the risk of urinary bladder carcinoma are smoking, chronic cystitis, exposure to aromatic amines at work (e.g. hairdressers, chemical, leather and paint industry, pest control, and others)3, radiotherapy of the lesser pelvis, bilharziosis, Balkan nephropathy, chronic interstitial nephritis as well as long-term application of certain medications (chlornaphazine, phenacetine, cyclophosphamide), some of which have been removed from the market.

Clinical Symptoms
Micro or macro hematuris occurs in approx. 80% of patients, although detection of both forms often occurs only intermittently. Other frequent symptoms indicating a carcinoma of the urinary bladder are dysuric micturition difficulties, particularly in cases where no improvement is achieved with antibiosis. In advanced stages, pain and urinary retention and the accompanying problems may occur.
