However, it is an established fact that the protective vaccination must imperatively be given to girls at an early age already, if it is to have a reliable effect. The protective effect of a vaccination lasts for about five to ten years.

Why girls at an early age? The HP viruses are predominantly transmitted by sexual activities, and once the viruses have invaded the cervical cells, also the vaccine cannot help anymore. "No sex prior to vacci-
nation" is insofar no guarantee for health, but nevertheless can drastically reduce the probability of becoming ill.

Regular medical checkups

Regular check-ups without being afraid A vaccination does not substitute the annual medical check-
up. After all it is only effective against four HPV types. Taking into account that about 100 HPV types have been scientifically proven, a vaccination reduces the risk of falling ill, but does not exclude it.

We urgently recommend to regularly have preventive medical check-
ups. For during such an examination the gynecologist’s attention is particularly directed to the uterus. In case of abnormalities, the specialist has had two possibilities to date: To send the patient back home again and observe the further development (will the body heal itself, or will cervical cancer develop?) or to surgically remove the portion of the mouth of the uterus affected at once.

For a woman this either meant grueling uncertainty regarding the further course on one hand or the risk of miscarriage or premature delivery due to the mouth of the uterus weakened by surgical intervention on the other hand – and hence significantly reduced quality of life.
