HCV SCAN is used for the rapid and simple screening of antibodies to Hepatitis C virus in human serum or plasma. This test is intended for preliminary screening in emergency situations such as in the field or in transplant and grafting procedures. HCV SCAN can also be used by small clinics, reference laboratories or blood transfusion centers as a second screen when two screening methods are required on each reactive sample. Confirmation of results should be consulted through other testing means.

The assay requires no specialized laboratory equipment and the kits can be stored at room temperature. Kits include all necessary reagents, controls and materials to perform the number of tests indicated per kit size.

EASY USE AND INTERPRETATION

To run the HCVSCAN device:

1. Add 2 drops of BLOCKING BUFFER to the device and allow to soak in.

2. Add 1 drop (or 45pl) of undiluted SAMPLE and allow to soak in.

3. Add 2 drops of WASH BUFFER 1 and allow to soak in.

4. Add 2 drops of RECONSTITUTED GCP CONJUGATE and allow to soak in.

5. Add 2 drops of WASH BUFFER 2 and allow to soak in.

6. Add 2 drops of STOP SOLUTION and allow to soak in.

7. Read results immediately for easiest interpretation.

HCV-SCAN gives a clear result for positive samples (two visible spots) and a clear result for negative samples (one visible spot). HCV-SCAN includes a built in assay control. The appearance of one spot for negative samples gives an added measure of quality control by demonstrating that the assay procedure was done correctly and that the reagents are chemically active.
